SPEAKER_01Welcome back to Bearded and Crunchy episode eleven. Eleven. Jesus. Yeah. We're over the ten. No notes, no problems. Nope. Uh, we're we're we're going off the cuff this week, guys. Yeah. We decided to just have an episode where we just kind of talk about whatever. Just whatever. Just kind of is as Bob calls it, the bull sessions. That's what that's what we're gonna call our short session, which I thought was genius. Um, but yeah, guys, episode 11. We're over 400 and uh almost four. Almost 420. Yeah, 420. See what I did there. Yeah, almost 420 downloads. So thanks again, guys. Like we always do at the beginning of episodes. You guys are keeping keeping our uh our excitement alive, right? Um we don't really get too many spikes, we're pretty consistent, yeah, and I like that. I like that. Um, already this morning, strangely enough, we had five downloads, which I'll take. On a Sunday morning? Yeah, on a Sunday morning, like what the fuck is it? But um yeah, so we just decided to kind of just it's just me and you doing what we always do. Bullshitting. Just bullshitting. That's fair. Uh but uh with that, I know you know I I I talk about it in every episode, but I love the questions you come up with. Yeah, there have been a couple of times I've helped you a little bit, but most of these he comes up with and they're amazing. This one's kind of fun since we're going on this topic. Um I I I know it could be anything from you know, what's your favorite shoelace color to what day of the week would you sleep in the most? I know it could be anything in between, right? Right. So let's get it.
SPEAKER_00Man, it this is a good one. It made me laugh, and then I was like, shit, I have to think of something too. You're gonna ask like what's coming back. All right, so here's your here's your question. All right, here we go. It's obviously hypothetical, and we love Resident Evil, yes, you know, zombies. Eric, the zombie apocalypse is coming. Oh no. What three people are on your team and why? Oh, god damn. Real life, fictional, past, present, uh, it doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_01That's a good question, right? Um, this is gonna sound crazy, but I don't think I would take anybody from my life now. Because we're already in a zombie apocalypse. And I and as much as I would want to be with the people I love, I don't think I would rather be, this is gonna sound crazy. I would rather be at the point where I've already like I don't know where they're at or something already happened, because I don't want to have to like like it I okay, let me explain it better. If I were to bring just my friends or my family or people I love, we're not gonna last a week.
SPEAKER_00No, no, we're screwed.
SPEAKER_01Um, so rather than have to deal with knowing I would be the cause of them dying, I would rather it be at a point where something they're safe somewhere, maybe they died, maybe we lost contact. So I'm just gonna go with three people that would help me survive it. Yeah. Um first I this is gonna be a little odd, but I just know he knows his way around uh um creatures. I'm gonna say Blade. Okay. Um he's a d he he's a daywalker. Um he has all kinds of crazy fucking digits and gasmos, and because of uh Whistler, uh, I don't know if you guys have have watched the movies, but because of people like Whistler, um he could um I think he could be very effective. I know he kills vampires, but you know, without being able to think and research, I gotta go off the top of my head. And he was the first one that popped in my head. So that's fair. He he he'll be my first. Badass. Yeah, yeah. Uh uh, and and I I I think we'll bounce back and forth because I'm gonna still have to keep thinking for for the other two. So uh yeah, first I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go blade because I think like he doesn't need it, like finding food isn't an issue for him because he'll just feed off of the zombies. Yeah, um, I mean, depending upon I'm assuming nothing can happen to these people. I mean, they can die, but like if he needs their blood, it won't like infect him and he'll die. So uh I won't have to feed him um all that kind of good stuff, and whether it's night or day, he can he doesn't sleep. So I I just think that would be a good choice. Yeah, that's a good choice. So, what would be your first choice, man? This was a good ass question. That's a good question.
SPEAKER_00I like this, yeah. I'm gonna go real life person, even though he just passed away. Oh I'm gonna go Chuck Norris, bro. Oh yeah, yeah, you win.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's no yeah, there you're not you're not gonna find a better yeah, yeah. Chuck's gonna fuck them all up with no weapons nonetheless.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. That's a good that's a good pick. Just gonna tear zombies' heads off and shit down their necks, be like, die. Right. No, that's a good one. Um, I think it'd be super badass.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, just to watch him fucking kick in and punch the zombies, left him, right? That would be hilarious, kicking domes off. Um I guess for my second one. I mean, I gotta go with somebody that that knows knows how to handle zombies. Yeah. I gotta go Leon. Yeah, nice. I mean, the dude survived 90 different fucking situations. He knows his way around them. He doesn't panic in those situations. So I think with that one, I'm gonna I'm gonna go Leon from Resident Evil. I think that would be, you know, I got somebody that can really go out and and and hunt like Blade, and then I got, you know, Leon would know how to barricade. He knows how to do all that shit. So he would be that would be the second one to to my team. So so who's your second?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I went, I guess, real life uh first pick. I think second pick, I'm probably gonna go anybody from Walking Dead, even though I wasn't the biggest fan of that show.
SPEAKER_01I never I seen episodes here and there, but yeah, as much as I love like zombies and shit like that, I never got into it. I don't know why.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I watched a few episodes in the beginning with my dad, and I love the I can't rem I can't ever remember the guy's name, but he he was also in uh Boondock Saints. And he was on Walking Dead, and he's like a badass in Walking Dead. I would I would take him.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Yeah, I mean that's what I mean. You definitely want somebody that would know their way around a zombie apocalypse. That's a good one. That's a good one. Um damn. I know this third one's gonna be. Hmm. Man. I'm trying to make it I'm trying to make it good because we're we're we're on air, but man, I'm I'm struggling for this. Cause I got a couple, but a few of them would just be like I thought Thanos, because I'm like, he could just go boom, and then half the fucking zombies would be gone. So but that would be too easy of a of a right so I think if I go that was better than I thought it was.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm I'm struggling.
SPEAKER_01Um you know what I'm gonna go with? Who's that? I think I'm gonna go where Darth Maul. Okay. Yeah. Solid choice. Well, I started to think I'm like, who's somebody that can really like if if you get surrounded, can really Yeah, yeah, can really he can use the force.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so I'm gonna go Darth Maul. Um that's why I went Chuck Norris, because he's yeah, he would just roundhouse the shit out of zombies. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, I'm gonna go Darth Maul. He has the force, he has that double-sided lightsaber, so that'll help and chop and throw it. Right, right. So I think I got a pretty diverse crew.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I like that I like your answers.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So who was your last?
SPEAKER_00I'm actually gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna go real life person, and I think there was this show on Discovery Channel years ago. It was called Dual Survival. And one of the original hosts on that show, I actually really like the guy. And I follow him on on YouTube and you know, some of his socials on top of that. His name is Cody Lundine, and he's like a a modern day hippie, basically. Okay. He hasn't worn shoes in like 30 years. Oh wow. You know, but I think just on the pure survival aspect of it, you know, he could start friction fire, you know, he he could hunt and gather, he can do all that survival stuff that would help us uh continue to survive. So I think I'd have to go with him.
SPEAKER_01I mean having a survivalist is not a bad way to go, you know, especially if you get stuck in a situation where like, you know, you can't go into a building and you need a fire and you have to forage and stuff like that. Yeah, that was that's a good pick. That would be a good um person to have in your in your team. Yeah, I don't want to be hungry. Right. Yeah, definitely not that. Um interesting. Uh and and don't quote me on the college, and when I make the video, I'll look it up to double because obviously I didn't know where you were gonna go with the question. But I want to say it's Miami University in Florida actually has a zombie apocalypse plan in there like legitly interesting. Yeah, uh I I I don't know if it still exists, but I I I'm almost positive there was a time that they had protocol in effect if that were to happen, which is hilarious when you think about it. But is that like Cold War duck and cover, like under your desk? No, I it's actually if my and and again, if I'm correct, it's re it's like from like the 90s, early 2000s. Like it's not light from years ago, it's like a more recent thing.
SPEAKER_00So that makes me sad for the human race. No wonder the zombies would easily win. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Half of us wouldn't believe it was real.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no kidding. They'd be like, oh, this is I'm being pranked. Of course, then again, with the youngest generation out there, the zombies would just pass them by because they would go brains and go, oh. Yeah, it would be sad faced. Yeah, they don't have any.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, oh, yeah. Um, for for you audio listeners, you can hop over to our YouTube video that comes out uh two days after the audio. Uh Bob was kind enough to get us some of these. Um I gotta move this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I had to move them all too. It's annoying. Yeah, I'll just use this one.
SPEAKER_01But he got us some pens, got us some nice um I I I also drink coffee, but I only drink decaf. So uh and he got us these nice shirts, and I went out and ordered us a couple of these so it wasn't so blank back here. Yeah, you guys can stare at our absolutely wonderful, insanely great logo and uh slogan. So I like it. Uh just because we're talking about an episode about nothing, you guys will hear it at one point. But our original demo that we did, we spent about five minutes going back and forth and saying that's fine and different because we were gonna use it, and then when we recorded for real, we'd never we've never said it. We've never said it once so now we took a vowel of of of silence and it's just there. And I've actually had people comment and say, I think that's that's like a really cool, catchy uh uh slogan. And I'm like, Yeah, I thought it was too.
SPEAKER_00And then we recorded it, and it was like it did sound stupid. Two guys, two mics, too much to talk about. See, there you go. It's done. Yep, it's it's it's yep. So much for the vow science. Yeah, it's all right. Oh well.
SPEAKER_01Who can really do that? We're we're in the business of talking. So this is true. I mean, we're not mafias. No, no, no, that's for sure. I need to get my pen back out. Yeah, get your pen out. Uh so Bob, since we didn't we both had some some pretty crazy weeks, didn't we? I'm telling you, man. I'll let you start it off because I guess technically yours kind of happened before mine did, even though mine was already in the works.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, all yeah. Of course. Of course. Um well my stupid ass former job fuck you guys, by the way, uh ended up letting me go on Monday because, well, my back is messed up, and we can't have you not be in here. I'm like, that's cool, man. And and not physically messed up, like it's not skeletal, it's not muscular, it's nerves. Yeah, I literally have a problem with sciatica. It comes and goes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. My mom had that. I think we've talked about that in the previous episodes.
SPEAKER_00It comes and goes, it has nothing to do with overall strength. I could still pick up, you know, whatever. It's the sitting. Yeah, it it's the sitting, it's the bending over to pick up tires, things like that. Which again, I was on my way out anyways. I had had enough of the bullshit there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you had said you like most of the people and the job weren't too bad, but it just there was certain aspects. But again, you know, that's that's almost any job.
SPEAKER_00So well, they brought in these two buffoons from Cleveland, and I will say that without remorse or anything like that. And that's what they are. They're they're buffoons. They don't know what the hell they're doing. You know, essentially the warehouse manager was a 30-year-old kid that had no clue on life or anything like that. But you know, it's fine because I I I got let go Monday, I had an interview Tuesday, had a job Tuesday morning. Yeah, yeah, making more money.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you turn that around quick. Yeah, and it it it's not really a that different of a schedule outside of going in early, yeah, but getting out earlier. So I mean, I think all around it, you know, we we talked about this. It may, it might, you know, it very well was a blessing in the season. I think it is. That's a good thing. Um, yeah, and for me, I'm not gonna talk big on it, but uh Friday I did go and finalize my divorce. We went in front of the judge and all that. So um I I will say um I thought I was more prepared than I was. You know, obviously I'm in therapy and I talk about it a lot. Right. Um, but knowing as a husband and as a partner that I had failed, it was a little hard to to swallow. Sure. Sure. And yes, I'm aware that you know, success in a relationship and failure goes both ways, but you know, I have to live with you know what I did or what I didn't do. Right. Oh, of course, of course. And as we've said, it was amicable and we just grew apart. But in that, there were things, you know, we could have communicated better, you know, how we were feeling, things that that bothered us and stuff like that. But again, you know, um, you know, we get along fine, we went down together, we filed all the paperwork. I mean, like there was it was amicable, um, you know, and and and all that good stuff. But again, it just sucks when you know, 15 years of marriage and and 16 years together are gone. You know, it's like it's it's yeah, it's it's it's hard. And I will say this, um, just to and I'm sure it's like this all the about, but to Summit County, uh, you gotta go through way too much to get a fucking divorce. It's absolutely insane that shit you gotta do. They don't want you getting divorced. I mean, I get that, but like, if if if both sides can sit in front of you and say, nah, I'm cool with it. Like, that's all it should be. Yeah, we're done. That's all it should be. You know, have us a thing that you sign that says, I don't want nothing from them, they don't want nothing from me. We're gonna decide our children and how we like nothing's gonna change right as far as family-wise is concerned with raising Thai. We're just not romantically involved anymore, we're just friends now. Okay, so but yeah, so that happened. So we both kind of had some pretty shitty weeks, shitty weeks. Uh, like I said, I was much more emotional than I thought I was gonna be. Yeah, and and and you know, like I said, you know, my therapist told me she was like, you know, you're not you you think you're gonna be prepared, but you're not, you know. She said, whichever way it goes.
SPEAKER_00So but uh so Yeah, I'm I'm gonna be honest with you, man. Outside of that, Monday, and to kind of expand on that just a little bit more. I got home Monday and my wife was off Monday.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's right. I forgot about that.
SPEAKER_00And um, it was like 11 40 when I got home Monday morning, and she's like, Why are you home?
SPEAKER_01Oh, you did the I'm not gonna text you, I'm gonna wait until I get home.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I'm like, What had happened was Yeah, see what happened was and we got to talking and she goes, Fuck that place.
SPEAKER_01And see, that's a ride or die there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because she already knew the kind of crap I was dealing with there. And you know, when I went through stuff last year, they they made me feel like nothing more than an employee number. And it's just ridiculous that companies do that to people.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh, you lose sight of a lot of stuff. You know, that that's the one thing that I've said before, and I'll go a little more in depth in a further episode. Foreshadowing. Yes, um, my current company is is really good at accommodating shit. I've been pretty privileged to have them. So, but I've I I've known the stories you've you've told me many a times, the the idiocracy that that runs over there and stuff like that. And and and and although I will say, you know, I understand them saying, you know, we need you here.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, of course.
SPEAKER_01But at the same time, like, dude, people have different things. Like, these are things you they knew right that could happen.
SPEAKER_00And I also have a life outside of work, yeah. And that's the thing too. It's like sometimes things come up. Yeah. It and the thing is, is you know, in the United States, it's it's so cut and dry. I mean, if you go overseas a lot of that, it's like they're like, okay, cool, we get it. Make up the work tomorrow. Yeah. Or over the weekend, or not at all.
SPEAKER_01I think it was like in Sweden or something. They get like out the gate like eight weeks hot. It's a little hot. Yeah. Um, I one of those countries over there, maybe Sweden, I think, it's like they get like eight weeks at the beginning of every and that's like mandated by the government. Like that. Germany is like, is it Germany? Okay. I know, I know there's a couple over there, and it's like, we're the worst when it comes to that shit.
SPEAKER_00It's like Bro, you work a year and get five days of vacation?
SPEAKER_01Like, yeah, it's I mean, I get I get a decent amount where I'm at, sure. But I still don't think, you know, I feel like, you know, another thing that they've done is 90% of companies have gone from vacation and sick to just PTO, yeah, to where you can use it for whatever. And I hate that because even the company that I started at when I started at, um, I had my first um year there, I had 16 days off, like vacation, like, and then five sick days on top of that. Damn. But I think it was 2024, maybe they went to just the PTO system and then they gave us an extra, like.
SPEAKER_00Did you have now? Do you have to earn the PTO through hours work, or they just give it to you all?
SPEAKER_01It is an accumulative thing, but I'm salary. Oh, okay. So it's just automatically like like if like uh for instance, if I go into to we use what's called work day. If I go in there and the date is set it today, it'll tell me how much have I crewed up to this date. But if I set the date to the end of the year, it'll say you have this many left. Gotcha. So it does it does calculate that, but it doesn't go off of that. Gotcha. Um, so yeah, but I'm not even sure. I think at five years I might get another bump, but dude, I get like 20 days off.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, my wife is around there. I'm pretty lucky.
SPEAKER_01Reinning uh after I think three years, maybe it was five years, but between three and five years, dude, she got like three and a half weeks. Yeah, it's nice. I'm like, damn, that's what but see, you know what? I seen a TikTok one time about a guy that owns this company, and he said he immediately gives them a month off. Yeah. Like of days off, and if they want to take a month off, they can do that. Yeah. And he said 75% of his employees have rollover because of that. Oh, wow. He said, because they have that option, you know, it makes them want to try to work around it and not like he said the one person, um it was like October or a later month, and they hadn't used any of their PTO. What they were doing is is like say they needed a Tuesday off. Yeah, they would work Saturday. And he said, and I try to tell them take your time, take your time, and they're like, Well, no, like we know we got that, but like you like, so on top of the time off, he lets them like he lets them do their own hours. Like, if they want to work like 11 hours. To seven or like 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Like they can set their own schedule, they can break it up. And he said he hasn't he said he hasn't had to hire a new employee in over 10 years. No shit. And I'm like, see, that's what I'm talking about. Like, are you gonna get people that are gonna abuse it? Of course you are.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yes, that's there's humans out there that are just pieces of shit. But I think the majority of people are gonna be like, wow, excuse me, that is something different. Yeah. Like me, I would absolutely like where I'm at. What I can do is like some days, like I'll give you a perfect example. If I got a doctor's appointment, I can work from home that day, right? Say it's at 10 to 11. I don't have to take a half day or all that. I can go to my appointment at 10, get back home at 11, and then just not take a lunch and work to lunch. Or I can still take my lunch and work an hour. Like I don't have to, yeah. They're they're they're I I love the place uh that I work. They're they're I'm lucky in the fact that they're very accommodating.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I always I always end up asking you during the week, like, hey, are you working from home?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, because there are uh they're they're really good about that. And and you know, there has been times with them in the ears, which we've talked about in the past, again, foreshadowing. We'll talk about that later. Yeah, um uh that you know I I do work from home from time to time. Um this week I'm gonna uh ask them if I can work from home. We're we're actually off Friday for the 40th. The fourth is on a Saturday. We're um observing it on Friday, so I'm off Friday.
SPEAKER_00Fucking sweet.
SPEAKER_01Um but Rihanna is going out to California Wednesday. I'm taking her to the airport before I go to work. Uh and then she's driving back. Her best friend's coming, moving back to Ohio. Oh, really? Vicky's moving back to Ohio. She's giving up on the Cali. Shout out Vicky if you ever listen.
SPEAKER_00Giving up on the Cali life, huh?
SPEAKER_01Uh, just a lot has happened and it just, you know, she it would be better for her, you know. It's not out of the cards for her to go back there. Yeah, but she just needs to come back here. She doesn't really have a lot of family and and and and and stuff like that out there.
SPEAKER_00So I've known her for a very long time.
SPEAKER_01I think we all have. She lives right up on Pioneer. Yeah, like a couple streets down from here. Yep.
SPEAKER_00I think um, I think the first time I had seen her, like in person, was over at your house a couple years ago. Oh, okay, yeah. When she was visiting, and I I think she like well, I'm not gonna put words into her mouth or anything like that, but I I have a feeling that she expected the same Bob that she knew when I was like in my early 20s. Oh, that was like a drunk maniac. Oh, yeah. And you know, at that point I was already married, I've got three kids, and it's like you softened up, dude.
SPEAKER_01We all did, you know. I was a fucking recluse at one time. Dude, I'm tired. I was I was nuts. When we can get Vonnie and Jermaine on here, I guarantee you they're all gonna try to tell you that I started fights constantly. Oh, I'm sure. They're gonna fucking tell you.
SPEAKER_00Well, I got to work with I got to work with Vonnie at ICOM.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's uh we we we've we've got stories, but uh yeah, yeah, so she's flying back and um That's cool. Uh Thursday, I believe, I think Gary uh is having somebody come look at our electrical box. And there has to be somebody there, and he has to go to work. So I'm gonna when I go in tomorrow, I'm like, hey Dave, you know, sorry if I work in here, he'll be like, yeah, cool. Yeah so they're they're pretty good about it. And you know, even if not, you know, I've been lucky with the menirs to where I can text him and be like, hey, I had a dizzy spell. I don't really feel like driving, and I can I can work from home. Uh but the good news is uh we're coming up July 21st. I go back to see the specialist, so fingers crossed. Yeah, hopefully fucking answers from that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that'd be nice. Well, yeah, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go any further into that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we we we have something planned for that. We do. Um a whole episode. We'll just put it out there. We have a whole episode. We got an episode coming soon about meners and vertigo and vertigo and the VP uh VBP that you have, or what's it called? BPPV. Yeah, BPV, whatever. Yeah, but um, but yeah, so yeah, we decided to talk about that. It's it's not very common, so it's very yeah. Um only a select people will probably even really understand what the hell it is. Uh it's one of those things where like you don't even know it's a thing until you know somebody that has like I didn't even know it was a fucking thing until I had it, and then so funny thing, yesterday we uh me and Rihanna went to Dumas. Um because we had to load up all meat.
SPEAKER_00Gotta guess meat.
SPEAKER_01We were talking and uh she goes, Man, it's so fucking weird that like your best friend that you started a podcast with, you guys both have this fucking part of this disease that is rare, but yet you both fucking ended up having it and almost at the exact same time. I said, Yeah, I said, I don't know. I didn't say this, but I wish I'd say it's kind of like when if women hang around long enough, their periods come on top of the city. So we're cycling or burping it together. Oh god, that's gonna be a serious clip. Yeah, seriously. Uh somebody's gonna cut that and make that into a clip. Yeah, right? But yeah, so uh yeah, we got that episode. We got some we got some stuff coming up. Oh man.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that was good. Yeah, and he did that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's funny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But uh we're cycling our manginas. Yeah, no kidding. We gotta we gotta keep our circadian rhythms intact.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, don't be offended.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this is we're all having fun. I I've I've said this bros. I've said and I've said this on the podcast before. Uh anything can be a joke if the joke's structured correctly.
SPEAKER_00And that was funny.
SPEAKER_01And that was funny. Uh speaking of, man, we need to we need to go back into talking about the comedy episode. Oh, yeah. I think we need to I I think we need to start maybe finding a place to to throw that episode away.
SPEAKER_00We talked about it a couple weeks ago.
SPEAKER_01Stand-up as a child. Like, I was watching stand-ups as a child, I should not have been watching. Dude, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, fucking Red Fox. Yep. Even Bob Sagitt's stand-up. Oh, he was filthy. We'll we'll we'll leave that because that could be a segment in and of itself. Because I don't I still wonder. I mean, with the social media, a lot of people know it now, but for years a lot of people hadn't realized that how dirty of a of a uh comic he is. You know another one, Wayne Brady. Oh, god, yeah. Yeah, so but he's funny in any way you cut it. So funny. But we can again we'll make that into another episode. Maybe that's another thing we can do while we're on episode here is try to shoot ideas for episodes while we're sitting here or whatever. Like I said, guys, no notes, no problems. We're just kind of going with the flow and whatever comes to our mind we're gonna talk about.
SPEAKER_00And um I like that idea because we've talked about it before, and I know we're talking we've been kicking around the early stages of another Star Wars episode.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. We're uh we're not gonna tell you what we have in in store for that because we want that part of it to be a surprise. But but we've guys, we we think far ahead, even if we don't have a number set on something, we go, okay, we need to revisit this. Yeah, the the idea is already starting to get flushed out, yeah. And you know, I I've been looking up statistics, you send me shit all the time, and I've been seeing things where between five and eight episodes is when the typical podcast shutters and falls and they quit making episodes. And I mean, bro, we already have nine and ten, I mean, uh locked and loaded, yeah. And now we're we're loading up 11 and 12.
SPEAKER_00So we're recording 11.
SPEAKER_01Guys, we're not stopping, you know, and especially after this last week, we had for me, and I know for a fact, Bob, we realized how much we need this. Yeah, because immediately when we walked out of that courtroom Friday, I was like, I want to record. And I'm sure Monday on your way home after that, you were like, Man, I would love to just go record and say what the fuck I feel. Oh, yeah. So, you know, we need this, and and we know we have some very loyal listeners. A lot of them are close family and friends. But of course. Um, we talked about bringing this up segue. Um, we have people in Virginia, Chicago, and Oregon that we like to say where we don't know who you are. We I it's possible people that we know from the past have moved there, but I doubt it. Guys, you're obviously listening to this. Please, please reach out. Tell us how you found us. Yeah, love to hear from you. If you go wherever you listen to it, go comment, go to buzzsprout.com and there's a fan mail section. Go in there, send us that. Our email, bearded and crunchy26 at gmail. Go to our YouTube videos, comment there. Please, we're on TikTok, Instagram, go to one of our I put all our promos and clips out on there. Um, go there, let us know where you're from, guys. Trust me, we want to know these things. And you guys are listening religiously, and it's awesome, and it's great, but we want to know you. We want to we want to get like, how did you find this? Was it word of mouth? Did you search Star Wars and find it? Right. Did you search music? Like, how did you find this? Because I mean we hooked we know the Tennessee people are you are or your sister mostly my clan down there. Houston is is Jermaine in my family, yeah. And anything in Northeast Ohio can be people we work with or family members, it could be anybody. But I mean, there's even a lone one in Michigan.
SPEAKER_00Like, I'm like, I don't know anybody in Michigan.
SPEAKER_01I don't either. Um, but well, we have a plant in Michigan, so there's a very small possibility that somebody that I work with through word of mouth or something may have come across it. That's you know, I don't know, but it's awesome though. Yeah, I'm enjoying it to see dude. And I really thought that after the first couple weeks, that the stat checking would wouldn't dwindle, and it doesn't. I'm I'm constantly trying to find out if there's a new location. Yep. Um, I'm I'm constantly looking for our UK people, and I'm not trying to single out like the rest of you guys are important, but guys, this is the UK. Like, we didn't like I would have dead ass, I would have never thought, even if we listened, it would have been out of the continental United States. Um, so I I just can't help the fact that like all you guys like, and I mean I'm talking but by episode four and five, we had Oregon, Virginia. So like I don't know how this this is spreading, and I would like to know. So guys, please uh reach out.
SPEAKER_00Um what's I think what's fun for me is if we We did this in the behind the pod stuff, you know, a couple episodes ago, but you know, my my daughter's oldest sister, uh who I helped raise for quite a while, I still love her to death. She's for whatever reason she still calls me dad, which is awesome.
SPEAKER_01Hey, if it fits with the bill.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I believe she follows us on Instagram or TikTok. One of the things I think both. Can I say her name? Yeah. Melinda? Uh that's her friend. Oh, okay. Yeah. Then okay. Because I seen it and I was like, Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that that's that's her friend. Um but yeah, we uh we talk enough. Yeah. As it is, and actually I got to see her when she was uh she actually came to my niece's graduation. Got to see the baby. Oh, that's awesome. I got to see the baby. She's adorable.
SPEAKER_01So you're technically a grandfather? Technically.
SPEAKER_00Oh shit. Yeah, he's adorable. Grandpa Bob. I know. He's a little cutie pie. Yeah. I love the babies. That's so easy. Babies are so easy.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's better it's it's easy when you can give them back. Yes. That's what me and Rihanna talk about now. We love babies, but we love other people's babies because we can hand them back to their parents. 100%. Um, I I don't know if I could make it through another No, I'm done. Um it was and not that I didn't do a good job, but it's it's being older when I had my youngest, um I mean, because I was 33. Okay. I mean, which isn't old. But I mean, you gotta remember, you know. Yep. I'm actually technically in better shape now than I was then because I was overweight. Uh if if you remember, uh, I was diagnosed with diabetes only um four months after he was born. Damn. I went in the hospital. Yeah. Really? Four months. Yeah. Um that was a scary.
SPEAKER_00Was it diabetic ketoacidosis? And you didn't know you had diabetes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then I I had it uh two other times after that, I believe. Um that's no joke. The last time I went, um Alright, I'll tell the story. It's a free episode. So this was before I started having a continuous glucose monitor. So I knew carbs and sugar affected my stuff, so I stayed away from them. But what I didn't know is what specifically affected it more than others. And I'll be honest, I ate much better, still wasn't perfect. Right. But um I started feeling really bad, and I thought, okay, I'm gonna take a shower. And then when I got out of the shower, I got real lightheaded and dizzy, and then I started to lose my vision. So I went to the couch and laid down, and Des laid next to me, and then I just couldn't see.
SPEAKER_00That's freaky as shit.
SPEAKER_01Rihanna was at work, Sonny was at school, uh, and Gary was down at the end of the driveway getting tied off of the bus. I had to use Siri and call 911. Holy crap. They came and got me. And um I get to the hospital, uh, they wired me up on an insulin drip. Um if you guys don't know, a typical uh perfect uh blood sugar glucose level is 80 to 120. Right. The last time that I actually went into the hospital, it was over a thousand. Holy dude! You're lucky you didn't just die. They said that my blood was like syrup. Jesus, man. So I get there and I'm in they ended up having to put me in the CCU, the critical care unit. Yeah. And after the first day, after you know, my level started to come down, I had the greatest ER nurse in the world. Yeah. She was a sports lover. I had sports on the phone, she would sit down and watch with me, she would crack jokes. Awesome. She was amazing. I mean, like always upbeat and smiley. And I remember there was one point um she checked my sugar, and I remember looking at her and I said, you know, I I don't remember much, but how bad was I when I came in here? And she looks at me and the entire like happiness, joy left her face. And she says, I'm not a doctor, but I would say if you'd have waited another hour, you'd be dead, they'd have brought you in and a body bag. Jesus Christ. And I just started crying. Yeah. I was like, okay, I gotta and and like I said, I did take care of myself, yeah, but not well enough. Right. And thankfully, I haven't been back to the hospital since so that was that was yeah. Um I've I've had some bouts with this, with this diabetes, so I do much better. Um I'm still getting at one point, so your A1C should be around five and a half, usually between like five, they usually say between like five or six. Yeah. Uh I had a 13 for years. Bro. Uh I've gotten it down to the upper sixes and seven, which is still considered high, but for where I was, uh, is much better.
SPEAKER_00I tell you, if you got attacked by a vampire with a sweet tooth, man, they'd have lowered.
SPEAKER_01Oh, dude, I'd have died in half a second. Especially when I was going through that shit. My my blood type was chocolate at that point. But I'm doing much better. Uh, you know, like I said, when I first was diagnosed, uh, I was well over 350 pounds. Um you were that big, dude? Oh, yeah. Oh yeah. I didn't I could hide it. Yeah, I knew you were big, but I could hide very, very well. I was down to about 275 at your wedding. I slowly lost it because that's how you're supposed to do it. Like it took me about six or seven years, but at my last doctor's uh uh so I I I like to say I probably got up to about 370. My last doctor's appointment, I weighed 216.9. Man, I would only I would kill bro. You I in wrestling or in my my uh uh senior year of high school, I weighed between 215 and 220.
SPEAKER_00So you're high school weight.
SPEAKER_01I'm high school weight again, bro.
SPEAKER_00That's awesome. Um well you're tall too, so you hide it. I'm six foot.
SPEAKER_01So even when I was like I so uh I I told you a story when you had stopped over the other day about Stick, the guy the guy. So a fun fact, we had these, because I worked in a plastics manufacturer, we had these big scales that would have to weigh raw materials and shit. Yes. And I told him, I was like, and this was around the time that I was gonna go to, it was around 05. I told him, I was like, bro, I weigh like 310 pounds. He was like, There's no fucking way you're over 250. I'm like, bro, I know what I weigh. And I stepped on the scale and I was 307. And he was like, There's no fucking way. I said, dude, I hide it well. Yeah, because I was an athlete, so if I gain weight, I gain it everywhere. Yeah, so it was my arms, my legs, and not just my belly. So I was just a big fucker, you know. So built like a tank. Yeah, but then you know, I lost, you know, all that weight, and I feel much better. I'm sure your joints thank you. Oh my god, my knees like I was in water therapy as I was getting diagnosed with diabetes because when I went to see, I ended up going to Rihanna's doctor, who's been my doctor for almost 15 years now. Oh, nice. Um, he's amazing. He sent me to water therapy because my knees were in such bad shape because I wrestled, I played football, and being heavy, you know, that hurts your joints. Um, I did the water therapy and that helped, but ultimately losing that weight kind of got me to where um I don't hurt as much. Uh when the weather changes, like in Ohio, it's not the change of weather, it's the abrupt change of weather. Like when it like when it would be 50 in the morning and get to 80, my knees would kill me.
SPEAKER_00And that's where that comes into play.
SPEAKER_01Bearded and crunchy, it's a it's a bitch. And now I got something. Um, my my you you you yeah, Steve was still alive when you my boss Steve at yeah, yeah, yeah, um, who unfortunately passed away from COVID. Oh, he he was he's the reason why I am successful as an engineer today.
SPEAKER_00He's such a great man.
SPEAKER_01He was a good he was so good to tie to. But uh he told me about a thing because he was a diabetic. Okay. That's how we bonded when I first started, obviously engineering, but sure. And diabetes. Yeah, he said he had gotten a thing from it and it's called frozen shoulder. Oh, yeah. And it's basically like arthritis in your shoulders, and I'm getting that now. Yeah. Uh there's days when I wake up and like it it hurts. Um, so again, crunching.
SPEAKER_00Listen, if you obviously we we know because we're uh close to middle age, but if you can predict the weather from any of your joints in your body, welcome to the crunch mob.
SPEAKER_01I'll have to throw that up. Yep. We haven't brought that up, but we decided on a name for for our community. You guys, you're the crunch mob. Yep. Um, and I'm gonna tell a quick story about that. So uh I'm gonna name him here. I don't know if he'll ever listen to this. Um, but Darrow, he's one of the he's our senior designer at work. Okay. Uh he's uh early to mid-30s, really good guy, absolutely amazing at DDR. Dance Dance Revolution. Like he goes to round one, which is this big arcade in this one, and I mean big arcade, like a Dave and Busters, um, that's up by our work. But um, he has a crazy beard and mustache and and hair. And he shaved his beard like two weeks ago, and he just has the mustache, and he was sticking with it. And I told him, I said, the other day when I was getting ready to shave, I thought about doing that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then I said, Oh shit, I can't, because my podcast is called Beard.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, now we've got an image to uphold.
SPEAKER_01And I said, I wanted to do that to shock everybody because since me and Rihanna have been together, you've never I've only shaved it once, like completely off, and she hated it. Uh so I never did it again.
SPEAKER_00But uh She probably felt like a pedophile at one point then because you you probably have a baby face.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I was still fat then, so Yeah, but you probably had a baby face.
SPEAKER_00I honestly I don't even remember, man. I couldn't my mom uh my wife has threatened me. I I said mom. I call her mom, she calls me dad. Yeah, you know, we have our but mom would have an issue with that because she she told me before, she's like, I know you have a goddamn baby face, and I would feel like I was married to a 12 year old, and that's just not right. Yeah. So I won't.
SPEAKER_01Beards are in anyway, so Yeah, we're we're on the trend.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Although I've had a beard for well, since I was like 18, 19.
SPEAKER_01I I've at least had a goatee. Yeah. I've had uh Sideburns. The sideburns. Like I've done it all. Yeah. I used to go to the barber every two weeks and uh get my geometry right. Oh yeah. Um I do it myself.
SPEAKER_00I do it myself now, but I had a I had a a goatee at one point that was like damn near down to my belly button. I had it braided. I did the other one. I did the same thing.
SPEAKER_01And I actually I have pictures somewhere. Rihanna dyed it red. Oh nice. Had a long red one. Yeah, it was pretty cool. And then uh from time to time I would just shave my mustache and just have like the beard and shit. I tried to be tech nine basically.
SPEAKER_00I and you're gonna remember this. And anybody that went to my wedding, oh shit, they're gonna remember this. But so we're in the groom's room at uh the venue that we're having uh the reception at. And I told you about this later and you saw it later. But my dad shows up and to set the scene, my nephew had used his trimmer to trim his his facial. My nephew's a good-looking guy. And he didn't set the guard back up to where my dad had it. So my dad comes into the groom's room, no mustache. Oh shit, and my dad has had a mustache my entire life. Mind you, at this point, I am 38.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I had never seen my father without a mustache in 38 years of life. And of course I knew about this, so I looked at him and I was like, What did you do? Like what the I was I was ribbing him basically, you know. And he goes on this tangent, and I'm just like, I'm just like poking the bear, you know, like and I it still makes me laugh because I I I have pictures and video of everything from that day, and I love the old man, but god that was hilarious. He was so mad over facial hair.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I I get it though. Yeah, I do I do get it. I did you know now that I think about it, I don't know if I've I had ever seen my dad he wore just a mustache for a while, but I don't know if I ever seen him just completely shaved. Yeah, he had I don't know if I've if I ever I definitely don't think there's any pictures outside of when he was like a kid or like a a a teenager or whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, my my dad rocked the porn stash when we were in the 80s. Yeah, my dad did the same. So and then as he got a little bit older and I guess wiser, he started growing the beard, which is it's cool now because he's all white. Yeah. So he's got this all white beard, all white hair. It's like you earned that.
SPEAKER_01Like that was the one thing I was I was really thankful that the way the white came to mind was just in these little stripes. Yeah, mine's like over here, you know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00My wife, my my wife will fully, fully own that. Like, I did that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Uh who knows what the amount of trauma in my life I'm sure strand represents a what should we get to next? What's something? Um I was trying to think. There was something earlier in the week I thought to bring up just as a small topic, and now I'm forgetting. Oh, I know. So oh god, I can't believe I'm mitting this. Hope my doctor never listens. So we were at the store not this not yeah, yesterday, but the following week. And we've been trying to you know cut back on snack food at our house just so the the you know the kids have a little more healthier choices. But Pop Tart made ice cream sandwiches.
SPEAKER_00I'll pass.
SPEAKER_01And Ty wanted to get his cookies and cream, and I was like, you know what? I'm gonna get these fudge ones. I prefer Walmart's brand of Pop Tarts. There's more filling, there's more filling, there's more frosting. Um But I got them. Okay, and and they're not they're actually not that big, they're only like this. Alright. And then the Pop Tots are only like this, but they're legit Pop-Tarts as the sandwich cookies. Okay. So I got the chocolate ones, and I'm like, these are really good. And I'm like, obviously, I have to adjust my insulin.
SPEAKER_00Oh, of course, of course.
SPEAKER_01But I was like, I I want to try them. So this week I was like, all right, I was like, let me try a different flavor. So I got the strawberry ones this week. Last night I was craving something, and I'm like, you know what? I was like, I forgot I got those. I go down, bro. Best ice cream sandwich I have ever had in my entire life. And when it comes to ice cream, I don't like fruity flavors. I don't like cherry ice cream, I don't really like strawberry. I'll fuck with Neapolitan, but the strawberry's gonna be the one I eat last. I'm just it's just for me. Um, bro, they're phenomenal. That's awesome. I mean so good.
SPEAKER_00And like I said, I love I I love ice cream sandwiches.
SPEAKER_01I do too. Um and yeah, I if you get a chance and you see a man, crunchy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, if you get a chance, man, get a box, try them. Okay. The strawberry ones are good. They have they have the brown sugar cinnamon, they have strawberry, they have the the fudge chocolate, and then the cookies and cream. Oh, nice. And I've only tried the two, and Ty said he liked the cookies and cream, but yeah, that's uh that's a weird tangent to get in get into.
SPEAKER_00I like ice cream. Again, I like ice cream sandwiches. I they don't last long in my house because I got you know youngins.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's the way. That's why like I started to go into like people don't understand, but like the flavor ices that we get. There's actually not a lot of sugar and right and um uh calories in them. Yeah, there's probably a bunch of dyes they shouldn't have, but really outside of that. Maybe I don't we do the Italian ices that are Yeah, those are those are much better, so uh I usually keep those on deck, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00I I like those. We we've had a box sitting on top of our fridge for like a year. Oh but the shit never goes bad.
SPEAKER_01No, no.
SPEAKER_00Plus you freeze it and then it's just it hasn't been hot enough yet, but wait till this week. Oh, it's have you seen the forecast for this week?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's I think the one day it's like 96. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm hoping that it chills down a little well, I don't want to say chill down, but hopefully it cools down to you know the second level of hell for you know 4th of July so I can sit on my deck and and grill and enjoy the weather.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't like I said, Rihanna's going to California. She's supposed to get back hopefully late Friday, early Saturday. But again, you're driving cross country. So we'll see. Uh Saturday night for a little bit. Uh, I don't know if I'll stay for the fireworks because I found that really loud noises really hurt my ear when it's clawed. Yeah, I can imagine shit. So I don't I don't know if I'll stay for that.
SPEAKER_00I don't do a lot of fireworks anymore. They they just annoy me.
SPEAKER_01Well, I used to really, really, really love them until I got dogs. And now I do, yes. My dogs go apeshit. I mean, it's literally like their PTSD from Vietnam. Yeah, yeah. No, Des will not bark, she will cow. Oh, and tremble? Dude, she hates them.
SPEAKER_00Ginger will do the same. She will tremble and Nala, not so much. Like she's not a fan of them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but Des just don't like them, so I'm not a fan of them anymore.
SPEAKER_00I think honestly, the bigger the dog, the more scared they get of firing. She hates them. And and and I got two big, I'll send you some pictures. Maybe you can throw them in the video so people can see my publishers. Yeah, for sure. But I'll do the same. Yeah, Dakota's a little bit smaller than Ginger. Yeah. I don't know, maybe inch and a half. And they are they're actual sisters from the same litter.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I remember you telling me that. You actually got them from a girl I graduated high school with. Oh, okay. Nice. I think I think that's what you told me.
SPEAKER_00Maybe?
SPEAKER_01Ebony?
SPEAKER_00That was Dodge. Oh, that was Dodge. Okay. Um the the puppies we got from uh a lady out in Wadsworth. Oh, okay, okay. Um, they had mom and dad. Mom was a pity, dad was a redbone coon hound. I have a weird mixed dogs. And they couldn't be like if you look at them, they couldn't be further from each other as far as looks are concerned. Because ginger is all red. Yeah. She looks like the the hound dog with a blockhead, like you know, Des has, like the pity blockhead. And then Dakota, she's jet black, has a little bit of white on her chest, and you would swear to god she was a lab.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But she's got that little bit of that square dome that you can go. She's looking like a pit. She's got pit in her.
SPEAKER_01That's a pity. Yeah. I I'm we're we're lucky uh in the fact that that Des is a hundred. Uh she's a full pit. She's such a sweetheart. But uh Nala is a mix, she's a terrier. Uh we think pointer Chihuahua mixed. Okay. Um, because the reason why we say pointer is because there's sometimes when she's standing, she lifts the paw like this. And has the looking so um we're not a hundred percent sure, but we definitely know she's a mixed terrier. She's a sweetheart too. She's just got a lot of chihuahua energy. She does. Like that's that's really what it comes down to, and she gets insanely excited.
SPEAKER_00Like it's really funny because she's such a little chubby monkey.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Rhannon calls her a baked potato.
SPEAKER_00She is a baked potato, and that's what she that's what I sent you that picture of Dakota out on my deck the other day in the sun, and I said, Don't forget to turn your baked potato.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're they're good dogs.
SPEAKER_01I often wonder though, because of the energy of Nala. Like, we often talk about like we got both of our dogs, it was meant to be. I'll tell a quick story about both of them. When we got Nala, it was right after COVID. Yep. And um, I remember you know, Ty was like, hey, you know, I want a dog because technically we got Des for Sonny, yeah. Um, just to kind of help her, because you know, as a teenager she had some some mental health issues, and we were doing whatever we could to try to help her. Um but when we got um when we got Nala, uh uh There we go. Brand new goddamn pen. Um I was actually laid off and Brianna goes, why don't you um why don't you take Ty down to one of a kind and just look around. No, she said just look. Yeah So we get down there and it's actually fairly busy, you know, we got our masks on and all that shit. And we we go and we're looking and I'm not seeing shit. Ty's around the corner and he's looking at this puppy, he goes, Papa, come look at this puppy. And we look and it's just this tiny little thing. And I'm like, I'm like, Do you do you wanna? She was he was like, Oh, I w I wanna hold it. I was like, Alright. So I go get somebody and they go to hold it, right? Because they'll give them out to you, and you can hold it. Yeah, yeah. And Ty sits down, he's holding it, and it's just it's shivering a little bit. You can tell it was a little scared, but it was it was snuggling him. And I take a picture and I send it to Rihanna, and all she sends back is You better get that dough, bring that baby home. Yes. So I go to the girl, I said, We're gonna we're gonna take him. She was like, good. She was like, There were three other families that were waiting to hold that dog, and it had a lot of energy when we got it home, and she wanted to play with Des. And we were wondering, like, Yeah, would somebody have brought her back? Because I mean, she wasn't potty trained, like, there was a lot of stuff that, and I, and I often wonder, and with Des, where do you hear this story? I don't know if I've ever told you this story. So when we decided to get a dog, we had looked online at a bunch of different places, and we found this place. I can't remember exactly where it is. I think it was way out somewhere in Medina, where we found this beautiful um blue, bluish pit. And we went to see it, and its name was Bulldozer.
SPEAKER_00Bulldozer. Maybe it was just Dozer. I'd have called him Dozer. It was one of the two. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, but anyways, we went and seen it, and man, it loved the kids, and it was good. And the person that was there was like, well, it looks like you know you guys are basically it. So we go home, we prepare, we hear nothing from these people. She calls back, and the person talking to me said, Nobody told you guys you were gonna get that dog.
SPEAKER_00Are you serious?
SPEAKER_01It's a bait dog. They bring people in to look at it, show them what kind of dogs they have, and they try to. Okay, and we were like, fuck you. Now, yeah, Sonny was devastated, we were sad, so we were like, Alright, one day we're just like, let's go to one of a kind. Yeah. Here's this white and black pit, and it's barking at me. Yeah, does not like me. Oh yeah. But Sonny and Rihanna were like, you know what? We want to look at it. So we get in there, and they're petting it, and they're like, You want to at one of a kind, they have this side yard where you can walk them around and stuff like that. The kind of so we're walking out, and at one of a kind, here's the front of the store. You walk around this side here, but there's a ledge, and right next to the windows here is the cat place. Yeah, we're walking around with this dog, and I'm I'm not kidding you. This ledge was probably four or four and a half feet tall. Des just hops. I mean, standing hops up on it, yeah, staring at these cats. Oh and immediately we're like, okay, she don't like cats. Yeah. We take her in the back, whatever, we take her home. That's the story of how we weren't even gonna like we were supposed to get a completely different dog. So we always go, you know, we were glad we ended up with and come to find out she she was like used as strictly a breeding dog. She had had three litters by the time she was four. Wow. Um, and she's such a sweetheart. She's a sweetheart. She did not like men um for the first two to three weeks that we had her when I would walk uh when I was in the living room, she'd be fine. But if I walked to the kitchen and Mac, then she's barking sitting in front of the kids. Yeah, but well, Bob, I think uh I think that was a successful episode.

SPEAKER_00It's time for dad joke.
